  • Well, I should be doing other things now, but, what the heck.
I cleaned three bathrooms. I will do some sewing later.

Okay, here is the story. I went out to visit my parents on Thursday. Hubby had an eye doc appointment in the morning and “work meetings” in the afternoon. He works at home now, he is retired US Gubmint, so he did not come with me.
Anyway, so I spent the day with my parents. I always kind of worry that it is going to be boring but it never is.
When I arrive, the tv is on that show that used to have Bob Barker but now they have that other guy. The tv is on very loud.

So, we sat around and ate some cookies and dad made coffee and then we had lunch, oh that was while the local news was on full blast and dad and I were looking at the tv in his room wondering why it did not get the local channels. I could not figure it out. This is a photo of one of the bar stools I reupolstered. I did four chairs like this. The seat was easy of course the top I had to make a custom fitted piece that fit on like a sleeve and I stapled the bottom.

That was tricky. well, taking apart the chairs and reupolstering was hard too. This is the first time I believe, that I have ever done anything like this, but I can do it. I used to make custom made clothing for Blizzie because she was sooooo thin and tiny regular patterns did not fit.

After lunch we lazed around and talked about all sorts of things. I like hearing my dad’s stories about the war. We got on the subject because we are always surprised at the  migration of muslims around the world. France, UK and Holland have a big problem. You think this is not a big deal, but we do not have it here… yet. One day you will see.
They take over all of the businesses and make demands changes that suit them only, change laws, rules and make what was once easy and comfortable life for normal people now they have to follow rules that do not even agree with their religion or lifestyle just to suit the muslim immigrants. Just wait. It is coming to the US. The migration is slow and gradual
Anyway, we talk of this quite a bit. WE love looking at photos of old Holland, when we were there. Now it is changed.
This situation is very similar is so many ways to the migration of Nazi’s. They move in, infiltrate and then over a period of 25 years they change things. Then… one day, there is a rising up.

I have read almost every book written about WW2, everything I can get my hands on, history and personal accounts.

so, anyway, after lunch I decided that we should go for a walk and perk up…. OH I forgot, right after lunch my mom made me wash her kitchen floor, I ended up washing more than that though because I just did. everything looked dirty. I cleaned the entire kitchen all of the exterior cabinets and counter tops. It was fun. so then we went for a walk. It was a good one, maybe a mile.

Mom pulled a muscle in her leg/hip/butt, it could be just an irritation of her sciatic nerve… I think that is what it is. Anyway, she had trouble walking so we took it slow. It was fine.

Then we got home and had tea and more cookies.
then I had to drive home, which took me an hour on the DC Beltway. It was not bad traffic for 5:00… must be all of that unemployment.

My dad and I love to blab about weird stuff — I mean it. He told me about his uncle that came to the US in 1920 and married some lady he met (an american) and Uncle Barney was a cool guy, he had a construction business and he was always  busy. That wife of his was unhappy. She used to shop and go out and have a good time. She got sick and tired of her crummy husband and paid someone to kill him. the killer guy went up to the Uncle Barney and said “give me $2000 or I will kill you” and my uncle said “come back at 4:00 and I will give you $4000 if you don’t kill me” So, at 4:00 he had the police waiting in the house to arrest the guy and then the killer guy said Barney’s wife asked him to do this. I do not know if he went to jail but Barney’s wife got 6 months in jail! Wow. I never heard this story before.
    cool story huh?

Okay. Yesterday I went to Target to get my blood pressure pills (I take a really low dose) and the pharmacist cheated me out of 10 pills. I did not realize this until I got home. I called the pharmacy and spoke with her. She acted like I was lying.
What a pain in the neck huh? I politely insisted that she give me my 10 pills.

I have been really lazy lately. I start projects and do not complete them. so annoying.

My dad took this photo of my mom. She goes to an exercise class every morning at 10 am right in the neighborhood. It is for old folks. I have never been, but last summer when Blizzie stayed with her g-rents, she went every morning with mom. She said the teacher (around age 45) is very very good and the exercises are fun and you do get a good workout. Blizzie did tell me the teacher looks like she lives in the “80′s” as she wears the most dorky clothing and these big goofy looking glasses.
    puzzling indeed.
so anyway, EVERY year my mom dresses up for Mardi Gras. When we lived in europe it was a big deal everywhere, the parades and everyone dresses up for Mardi Gras in europe, it is like halloween, except yeah, no trick or treating. So she just loves dressing up for Mardi Gras.
    There she is. my mom.

I must end here. I will update very soon
I hope you are having a nifty week-end so far.
We are supposed to get some trashy snow/rain/sleet weather starting tonight.
Oooooh I should send hubby out for milk… we are out of milk and here in the DC area everyone buys all the food when we get just one snowflake the entire Washington metro area goes into a weather related frenzy.
Pierro and his “anaconda” …. packing paper for some car parts hubby ordered a few days ago. The paper is just one loooong strip about 20 feet long haha

    Someone should do a comparison
    between Obama’s economics
    and Bernie Madoff’s investment company.

have you received your coupons in the mail yet?
I hope you get yours soon

  • It’s wonderful that you still have your parents and have the means and opportunity to be with them.

  • The stools look great!  I bet your parents love what you did.  I love the pic of your Mom dressed up!  Very festive.    I haven’t received my food coupons yet…maybe they’ve arrived but I’ve been too busy cooking turnips.

  • you did a good job on the chairs and a pillow, too?

you parents sound like fun. I go to the nursing home once a week and sometimes more and you have to like gear down for the visits but I like it cause I like the lady I visit. She was my parents neighbor since I was 20yrs old Mrs. Palmer.

I’ve been too busy grinding tumble weed down here in Texas to get my stamps yet.

  • Oh, no, that is not just paper – it has eyes!  It is most definitely an anaconda!  : )

You did a great upholstering job.  I’m glad you can enjoy time with your parents!  They are adorable.

  • Your Mom is looking well and so svelte and healthy.  I like the anaconda and must get one for the birds and squirrlies in the back yard.

  • I think you did a very nice job on the bar stool upholstering. I’m sure your mom is very happy with the nice change.

She looks very vampy in that pic. Sexy mama!

Who is that nosy kitty in the paper? MeOW!! Very busy rumpling and pawing, I’d say.

How hateful for your pharmacist to imply that you were lying about the pills. Probably thinks you’re selling them! hahahaha!

Your parents are cute..and you’re a very good daughter! (I know what you mean about the loud tv. Mom “forgets” to put her $5000.00 hearing aids in every day..only when we go to the doctor’s office…but she never wears them so when she does, her brain doesn’t have time to acclimate to sounds with them, so they don’t do her any good anyway. But that’s ok. I like repeating everything four times and talking loudly to her. hahahaha..

    Have a lovely Sunday PR!

  • I am glad you post more , Rosemary .I find again you .

Your parents are so happy when you go .
They cannot complain about their daughter.

    Love

    Michel

  • I so love Michel’s comments. I cannot imagine trying to write commments as good as his in French!!

Dearest Rosemary, I voted for Obama and I am scared now. I won’t be around for the repercussions of this administrations, but my grands will be. Prayer is my only solace.

    Hugs

    Bev
